Publisher THQ has reportedly entered into an agreement with Nintendo to develop games based on Nintendo franchises and characters.
Continuing with their current trend, Nintendo is outsourcing more of its intellectual property to THQ, adding to a growing list which already includes developers like Capcom, Sega and Namco.
The agreement applies to the Nintendo DS only though, and grants THQ "the right to use certain of Nintendo's intellectual property to develop, publish and distribute video games for the Nintendo DS handheld platform until Jan 25, 2008 in all countries in the Western Hemisphere in accordance with the terms of the agreement."
Fortunately, Nintendo will still retain a veto on THQ's use of their IPs, so as to stop any unworthy titles getting through. |

I think this is great news, Nintendo are finally starting to make strong ties with 3rd parties, which can only be good. :)

Cool, so are we going to see a Mario All Stars Team in a WWE game? :D
It is great that Nintendo is making some relationships with western 3rd parties as well as Japanese ones :) .

Hmm, I wonder which IP THQ will be using.
Kirby? Ice Climbers? Mr. Game and Watch?
Or how about even a Kid Icarus game?

I think Sega and Nintendo should chuck their IPs together for the next Smash Bros game.

What happened to that Tri-Force collaboration anyway? Is F-Zero GX the only title to come out of it or what?
Hopefully THQ make some decent games using the Nintendo characters. Perhaps the more unknown ones too?

Starfox Assault is also a product of the Triforce collaboration. ;)

I think you mean FZero AX, Nismo, cause the TriForce is an Arcade board that’s why you don’t see much about it. which leads me to say Namco may of developed StarFox Assault but its not part of the Tri Force.
The point of the Tri Force board was to enable easy ports of arcade software to the GCN.

Yeah it was a collaboration between Namco, Sega and Nintendo. I believe that FZero and Starfox are results of the same 'Triforce' collaboration though cd2, since they are arcade style games.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the next Smash Brothers game had Sonic & Co in it, he was schedueled to be in Melee, but due to time constrictions, none of the Sonic characters were developed.

Indeed, Yuji Naka (I think (excuse my ignorance)) said it was definately possible.
Anyway, It's good that Nintendo are strengthing it's relationships with 3rd-Parties which gives them more time to work on their "Blockbuster hits" as you could say, like Mario and Zelda.
