Title: James Bond 007 in: From Russia with Love
Description: Connery lends his voice+ likeliness!

Shadow Knight - January 23, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
EA have apparantly annonced a new James Bond game among many others and this time we'll be back in the shoes of the well-known 00 Agent.
QUOTE (Cube-Europe)

On top of that EA also announced it is working on a new Bond title: James Bond: From Russia With Love. This new Bond title will be based on the 1964 movie and will not be like Rogue Agent, but more like James Bond: Everything or Nothing. Yep, we have got a new 3rd person Bond game coming our way!

Personally i thought EoN was an awesome game that captured the Bond feel brilliantly and this being a 3rd person shooter can only be good news.
Also: It'd be pretty awesome if they got Sean Connery to do the voice over. :)

I agree with your opinion on Everything or Nothing, that was without question the best Bond game EA have delievered thus far. Their latest effort, Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was truely terrible though so I'm not that excited as of yet.

borgster101 - January 23, 2005 03:32 AM (GMT)
Goldeneye Rogue Agent was merely released to cash in on the Goldeneye legacy of the N64 days, and as a result a poor game was produced. This new title looks more promising, especially if it is to be like Everything or Nothing and being based on a classic movie will be nice.

As a Bond fan, I'm pissed off at the postpect of another EA Bond game.

Let it die EA, you've killed the franchise.

And no, I didn't like EoN.

Gio - January 23, 2005 05:40 AM (GMT)
I wish EA would pass the liscence on to a developer worthy of the Bond Franchise..
..Maybe Free Radical?

fishonthecarpet - January 23, 2005 07:25 AM (GMT)
Interesting they've chosen to go back to movie-based? I'm wondering why Die Another Day hasn't been made into a game... probably because it wasn't too spy-ish.

Sybatical - January 23, 2005 07:27 AM (GMT)
Hopefully they include a worthy multiplayer option. (Eg. Nightfire)

Gio - January 23, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah the Nightfire multi was pretty good, but the single-player mode had nothing going for it (imo). That's why I sold it, because we played the multi-player to death, that and I was going through a *FPS's are for PC's, not consoles* phase.

markymark - January 23, 2005 09:17 AM (GMT)
are you crazy in the head?! nightfire single player was brilliant. although, i do agree the multiplayer was better. grenade launchers and guided missles... beautiful :D

but yeah, as for the topic, i think there's some potential. going for the retro atmosphere might prove interesting.

I'm another one that didn't like EoN. I sure won't be looking into this new Bond game. EA just chashes in and releases mediocre Bond titles.

Apparantly Die Another Day wasn't made into a game because it was felt that the environments of the film were not suitable to be translated into a game.

Are you guys nuts!?

EoN was THE definative bond game. It portrayed and let you portray everything that was Bond, and while I certainly don't hold any affection to that cliched arse of a character, I thought it delivered, and delivered well.

Now, Goldeneye: RA was absolute shit. I got that dry husk for free, have only played it for an hour, and refuse to play it ever again!

Now, if this could be a mild improvement on EoN, then i'd be a happy man.

Fair enough, looking back I wouldn't say it would.

borgster101 - January 25, 2005 06:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah if they tried to make a game based on Die Another Day it probably would have been like the horrible Tomorrow Never Dies.

For some reason I didn't like EoN, but did like Nightfire which makes me wonder if I'd like Rogue Agent.

QUOTE (Cube-Europe)
Electronic Arts are working on another Bond title based on a film, and have decided to go all the way back to 1963 with From Russia with Love. They have also managed to get Sean Connery to lend his voice and likeliness (from 1963) to the game to make it seem ever more like the film.

As well as Connery Electronic Arts have also managed to get permission to use the likeliness of the other films characters, including; Q (Desmond Llewelyn), Donald "Red" Grant (Robert Shaw), Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya), Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi), Kerim Bay (Pedro Armendariz) and Miss Moneypenny (Lois Maxwell).

As an artist, I see this as another way to explore the creative process," Connery said. "Video games are an extremely popular form of entertainment today, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all fits together."

"The combination of Sean Connery, the Bond universe and 'From Russia With Love' is about the best mix you can have in a Bond game without a new feature film," said John Taylor, video game analyst at Arcadia Research. "Connery set the standard for James Bond and is most people's favorite Bond. This game should have both a retro and contemporary appeal to a large audience."

The new game will follow the plot of the film, with developers having access to the directors cut to make sure they cram in as much as they can. Look out for the game later in the year.

Woooooo! :D
Can't wait to see how this turns out.

for some reason i automatically read that in my head with connery's accent :D

sounds like an interesting development... something good may come out of it.

EoN Sucked!!!

Ya heard me, Manny! :P

Hello - April 6, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
These Bond games are like THQ trying to make a Mario game. I don't care if Connery gets naked in the game: I WON'T BE PLAYING IT.

markymark - April 7, 2005 02:46 AM (GMT)
actually, i'm pretty sure a naked connery would work as a deterrent... but i've been wrong before.

My mates and I played multi for 30 minute then went back to Perfect Dark. Traded NF to EB a few days later. The single player was decent but it tried to hard to be Goldeneye rather than being its own game, which is a problem that seems to plague all bond games (with the possible exception of EoN which I haven't played).

Manny M - April 7, 2005 12:33 PM (GMT)
The only thing to come close to goldeneye in that respect, is Timesplitters. Timesplitters 3 in particular reminds me ALOT of the fun gameplay we had in goldeneye MP matches.
